## TL;DR

A whole-genome blood test for leftover cancer from AccuraGen that corrects sequencing errors read by read, so it can add up thousands of a tumour's mutations.

## Summary

AccuScan was described by AccuraGen of San Jose, California, with Shanghai YunSheng Medical Laboratory, in EMBO Molecular Medicine in 2024 (Li et al.). The authors report an error rate of 4.2 x 10^-7 and an analytical sensitivity down to 10^-6 circulating variant allele frequency at 99 per cent sample-level specificity. In colorectal cancer it showed 90 per cent landmark sensitivity and 100 per cent specificity for relapse within six weeks of surgery; in oesophageal cancer, 67 per cent sensitivity and 100 per cent specificity one week after surgery.

The full text's dilution data put the dependable limit near 10 parts per million: detection at 10 parts per million was 96 per cent with 10,000 markers and 100 per cent with 20,000, and in a melanoma dilution series two of three replicates were detected at 5 parts per million and one of three at 2. Commercial status was not confirmed.

## Fields

- Kind: Test
- Status: emerging
- Last checked: 2026-11-04
- Also known as: AccuraGen AccuScan
- Tags: test; mrd
- Brand: AccuScan
- Modality: Tumour-informed whole-genome ctDNA minimal residual disease test (single-read error correction)
- Mechanism: Whole-genome sequencing of cell-free DNA in which each read is error-corrected on its own, so thousands of a tumour's mutations found by tumour whole-genome sequencing can be counted across the genome without a personalised panel.

## Notes

- Stated limit of detection, in the abstract's words: "analytical sensitivity down to 10-6 circulating variant allele frequency at 99% sample-level specificity" (Li et al., EMBO Mol Med 2024). The measured detection rate at 10 parts per million was "96% for 10K markers" (full text); the 10^-6 figure rests on one of three replicates.
- Contrived samples were donor cell-free DNA mixtures using germline variants as markers, not tumour plasma.
