## TL;DR

Adaptimmune developed Tecelra, the first TCR-T for a solid tumour, and sold the US rights to US WorldMeds in 2025 amid financial distress.

## Summary

Adaptimmune, based in Abingdon and Philadelphia, developed Tecelra, or afamitresgene autoleucel, the first engineered T-cell receptor therapy approved for a solid tumour, and sold its US rights to US WorldMeds in 2025 amid financial distress. Afami-cel targets MAGE-A4 and was proved in SPEARHEAD-1 in synovial sarcoma, letetresgene autoleucel targets NY-ESO-1, and uza-cel, its PRAME programme, was sold. OnCo links it to sarcomas, to the afami-cel drug record and to the SPEARHEAD-1 papers. Whether a scientifically successful cell therapy can survive commercially in a rare cancer is the question its history answers, and the answer here was no. Afamitresgene autoleucel has its own page.
