## TL;DR

Oncologist who led REACH-2, the first positive biomarker-selected trial in liver cancer, which established ramucirumab for patients with a high alpha-fetoprotein level.

## Summary

Andrew Zhu led the liver cancer programme at Massachusetts General Hospital for many years. He was first author of the 2019 Lancet Oncology report of REACH-2, which showed that ramucirumab lengthened survival compared with placebo in previously treated hepatocellular carcinoma with alpha-fetoprotein of 400 ng/mL or more, the first positive phase 3 trial in liver cancer to select patients by a biomarker. He has also led trials of ivosidenib in IDH1-mutant cholangiocarcinoma.
