## Summary

Antwerp University Hospital (UZA) is the academic hospital of the University of Antwerp, at Edegem south of the city. Its Department of Medical Oncology, under Jan Vermorken, coordinated the EXTREME trial, reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2008, in which adding cetuximab to platinum and fluorouracil lengthened survival in recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous-cell carcinoma. The department has long been active in EORTC gynaecological and head and neck trials.
