## TL;DR

Bruce Power runs the world's largest nuclear power station and, since 2022, irradiates ytterbium targets inside a running reactor to make lutetium-177 for ITM, the first commercial medical isotope from a power reactor.

## Summary

Bruce Power operates eight CANDU reactors on Lake Huron. With Isogen (a Framatome and Kinectrics venture) it built an Isotope Production System that inserts and retrieves targets while the reactor runs, and began commercial irradiation of ytterbium-176 for ITM's non-carrier-added lutetium-177 in 2022. It also supplies cobalt-60 to Nordion. The model shows how power reactors could relieve the research-reactor bottleneck for therapeutic isotopes.
