## TL;DR

IMBdx's blood test from South Korea, offered at screening centres there, which in a laboratory study detected nine in ten cancers including stage I.

## Summary

In Jeong et al. (Experimental and Molecular Medicine 2026; 1,415 samples, eight cancer types and healthy controls, case-control) the model had 93.2% sensitivity at 95% specificity, 92.3% at stage I, and 85.7% accuracy for the tissue of origin within its top two calls. IMBdx told Korean press (Asia Economy, 1 October 2025) that the test had expanded from 8 to 12 cancer types, with 98.0% specificity and 89.3% sensitivity, and was offered at 103 screening centres and medical institutions; those are company statements. No Korean MFDS status or price was found.

## Fields

- Kind: Treatment
- Status: emerging
- Last checked: 2026-10-29
- Tags: test; mced; evidence:insufficient
- Brand: CancerFind
- Modality: Multi-cancer early detection blood test (whole-genome methylation sequencing with fragmentomics)
- Mechanism: Whole-genome methylation sequencing of cell-free DNA, combining average methylation, copy number and fragment size in an ensemble model, with a predicted tissue of origin.

## Notes

- Evidence grade insufficient for the claim that taking this test reduces late-stage diagnosis or cancer deaths: no randomised trial of it has reported either outcome, and its published performance comes from case-control or single-arm studies. The only randomised result for any multi-cancer test, NHS-Galleri, did not show fewer stage III or IV cancers.
- Case-control figures at 95% specificity: in a screening population about 5 in 100 people without cancer would test positive at that threshold.
- What a result means: a positive result is a reason for further tests, not a diagnosis; a negative result does not rule cancer out and does not replace the screening tests that have been shown to work (bowel, breast, cervical and, where eligible, lung screening).
