## Summary

The Cipla Palliative Care and Training Centre was founded in 1997 by Dr Y. K. Hamied, chairman of Cipla, on a five-acre campus at Warje, Pune, and is run by the Cipla Cancer and Aids Foundation. It describes itself as among India's early dedicated palliative care centres. By 31 March 2026 it had supported more than 26,000 patients, according to its own count, and it has a 49-bed inpatient unit.

Its milestones include home care from 2004, the first palliative care outpatient clinic at Sassoon General Hospital, Pune, in 2007, and Saath-Saath, which it calls India's first palliative care helpline, launched with other palliative care organisations. It trains oncologists, doctors, nurses and counsellors with the Indian Association of Palliative Care and others.
