## Summary

Veracyte states that "Based on the expression of 219 genes" the test "classifies bladder tumors by molecular subtype", that it is run on tissue from transurethral resection and "is intended for patients with clinical stage T1 to T4a bladder cancer", that it is a laboratory-developed test that "has not been cleared or approved by the FDA", and that it "is covered by Medicare for patients with clinical stage T1-T4a bladder cancer". The Medicare group policy for bladder classifiers (L38576) does not name it. The classifier was described in a study of muscle-invasive bladder cancer in which a single-sample genomic subtyping classifier predicted four consensus subtypes with 73 per cent accuracy and patients with basal tumours showed the most improvement in overall survival with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (Seiler 2017).
