## TL;DR

Dispatch Bio uses a virus that infects tumour cells and makes them display a marker, so that an existing CAR-T therapy which recognises that marker can then find and kill the cancer. The aim is one approach that works across many solid tumours; its first trial, in advanced bowel, stomach and oesophageal cancers, began dosing in August 2026.

## Summary

Dispatch Bio, with operations in Philadelphia and San Francisco, launched on 23 July 2025 after three years in stealth, reporting USD 216 million raised in total. It was founded in 2022 by Andy Minn, Carl June, Chris Garcia and Kole Roybal, and the Series A was led by ARCH Venture Partners and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy with Bristol Myers Squibb, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University and Alexandria Venture Investments.

Its Flare platform delivers a viral vector carrying a universal antigen, called Flare, that marks tumour cells while disrupting the immune-suppressive tumour microenvironment, so that a CAR-T directed at that antigen can follow. The first clinical product, DISP-10, combines DV-10, a tumour-specific virus, with Bristol Myers Squibb's BCMA-directed CAR-T idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel), which is not approved for solid tumours. The FDA cleared the IND in January 2026, and the first patient was dosed in August 2026 in a phase 1 multicentre open-label study in advanced gastrointestinal cancers including colorectal, gastric, oesophageal and gastro-oesophageal adenocarcinoma. In January 2026 the company also announced a clinical collaboration with CARsgen to evaluate the Flare platform with zevor-cel in solid tumours.
