## TL;DR

EORTC 22922 showed that irradiating the internal mammary and supraclavicular nodes reduces breast cancer recurrence and death, with a small effect on overall survival, and made regional nodal irradiation standard for node-positive disease.

## Summary

EORTC 22922/10925 randomised 4,004 women with node-positive or medially located early breast cancer to whole-breast or chest wall radiotherapy with or without irradiation of the internal mammary and medial supraclavicular nodes. Ten-year overall survival was 82.3 percent with nodal irradiation and 80.7 percent without (hazard ratio 0.87, borderline), with fewer distant recurrences and breast cancer deaths (Poortmans and colleagues, New England Journal of Medicine 2015); 15-year results confirmed lower breast cancer mortality without an overall survival difference.
