## Summary

Eric Jonasch is a genitourinary medical oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center and directs its von Hippel-Lindau clinical centre. He was first author of the 2021 New England Journal of Medicine report of the phase 2 trial in which the HIF-2α inhibitor belzutifan shrank renal cell carcinomas and also pancreatic lesions and central nervous system haemangioblastomas in patients with VHL disease, leading to the first approval of a drug for the syndrome.
