## TL;DR

A blood test for leftover lymphoma that looks for several of the tumour's mutations sitting on the same piece of DNA, which lets it see far smaller traces than tests that look for one mutation at a time.

## Summary

Foresight CLARITY is the commercial residual disease test of Foresight Diagnostics of Boulder, Colorado, built on PhasED-Seq (Phased Variant Enrichment and Detection Sequencing), the method published from Stanford by Kurtz and colleagues in 2021. The company's site describes Foresight Diagnostics as a wholly owned subsidiary of Natera and states that CLARITY has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.

Its analytical validation was in B-cell malignancies, chiefly diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (Klimova et al., Oncotarget 2025): a false positive rate of 0.24 per cent, a background error rate of 1.95 x 10^-8, and a 95 per cent detection limit of 0.7 parts per million with 120 ng of input DNA. Against a single-nucleotide-variant comparator, positive percent agreement was 90.62 per cent and negative percent agreement 77.78 per cent. The validation does not cover solid tumours.

## Fields

- Kind: Test
- Status: emerging
- Last checked: 2026-11-04
- Also known as: CLARITY MRD; Foresight CLARITY MRD; PhasED-Seq MRD assay
- Tags: test; mrd
- Brand: Foresight CLARITY
- Modality: Tumour-informed ctDNA minimal residual disease test (phased variants, PhasED-Seq)
- Mechanism: Sequencing of the tumour finds stretches of DNA that carry two or more mutations on the same short fragment (phased variants); the blood test looks for fragments carrying those mutations together, which background sequencing errors almost never reproduce.

## Notes

- Stated limit of detection, in the paper's words: "The limit of detection at 95% detection rate with 120 ng of input DNA was 0.7 parts in 1,000,000" (Klimova et al., Oncotarget 2025, B-cell malignancies).
- 120 ng of cell-free DNA is more than most single blood draws yield, so the limit applies at that input; the paper does not state a limit at lower inputs.
- What a result means: like other residual disease tests it reports whether tumour DNA is present; it does not report which clone of the lymphoma the DNA came from.
- Ownership read from the Foresight Diagnostics site footer on 4 November 2026: "Foresight Diagnostics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Natera, Inc."
