## Summary

Haruhiko Fukuda is the founding director of the JCOG Data Center at the National Cancer Center in Tokyo and a clinical trial methodologist. He established and long led the data centre behind the Japan Clinical Oncology Group, the country's main academic trials network, setting the methodological standards for its cooperative-group surgical, radiotherapy and chemotherapy trials in gastric, oesophageal, lung and other cancers. His publications include the JCOG0802 trial of segmentectomy against lobectomy in small peripheral non-small-cell lung cancer, the JCOG1013 trial of docetaxel added to cisplatin and S-1 in advanced gastric cancer, and the JCOG0603 trial of hepatectomy followed by mFOLFOX6 in liver-only metastatic colorectal cancer. His interests are trial methodology and biostatistics.
