## TL;DR

An experimental PET scan from Xiamen that lights up cancer carrying the TROP2 protein, the target of several antibody-drug conjugates.

## Summary

68Ga-MY6349 has been studied at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, which sponsored its first registered study. In a prospective study of 90 patients with 15 cancer types (Chen et al., Journal of Clinical Investigation 2024; NCT06188468), uptake was generally high but varied between lesions, patients and cancers, and correlated closely with Trop2 expression by immunohistochemistry; in breast cancer, tumour uptake was higher than with 18F-FDG (maximum standardised uptake value 7.2 against 5.4).

In 73 patients with suspected or confirmed breast cancer (Yu et al., Theranostics 2026) it found more malignant lesions than FDG (564 against 436) with fewer false positives (2 against 40), upgraded stage in 6 of 30 initial-staging patients, changed treatment in 4 of those 30 and in 5 of 43 restaging patients. In three patients with triple-negative breast cancer on sacituzumab tirumotecan, early changes in uptake after two cycles matched the later response; the authors call this preliminary. It is an investigational agent in China and not approved anywhere.

## Fields

- Kind: Imaging agent
- Status: phase-1
- Last checked: 2026-11-04
- Also known as: [68Ga]Ga-MY6349; Gallium-68 MY6349; MY6349
- Tags: diagnostic; frontier
- Modality: Investigational PET imaging agent (TROP2-specific radiotracer, gallium-68)
- Mechanism: A Trop2-specific radiotracer labelled with gallium-68 binds Trop2 on tumour cells, so PET shows where Trop2 is expressed across the body in one scan.

## Notes

- What it can and cannot show: a scan reads Trop2 on lesions large enough to image; it says nothing about the small amounts of residual disease that blood tests detect.
- A further study, NCT07753499, uses it in recurrent or metastatic thyroid cancer.
