## TL;DR

The GCIG criteria define when a fall in the CA-125 blood test counts as a response, and when a rise counts as progression, for ovarian cancer.

## Summary

The Gynecological Cancer Intergroup had agreed criteria for defining progression-free survival after first-line treatment and response in recurrent disease using CA-125. Rustin and colleagues (International Journal of Gynecological Cancer 2011) wrote detailed definitions that incorporate RECIST 1.1, for use in trial protocols; by then the progression criteria had been validated for recurrent disease. They were developed in patients on chemotherapy and had not been validated with targeted drugs.
