## TL;DR

Geneplus-Beijing's personalised blood test for leftover cancer in bowel, breast and lung cancer, which labels each tracked mutation as present in all tumour cells or only some.

## Summary

Geneplus-Beijing described the assay in MedComm in 2025 (Liu et al.): up to 20 variants chosen from tumour profiling, combined with a cancer-type fixed panel, with a stated sample-level limit of detection as low as 0.005 per cent and 100 per cent specificity. Applied to colorectal, breast and lung cancer, it predicted postoperative recurrence before imaging by a median of 112 days in breast cancer and 83 days in lung cancer.

It is the one published assay in this group that labels the tracked variants as clonal or subclonal, and in its data clonal mutations carried more prognostic value than subclonal ones. That is research output, not a reported clinical field.

## Fields

- Kind: Test
- Status: emerging
- Last checked: 2026-11-04
- Also known as: Geneplus tumour-informed MRD assay; Geneplus ctDNA-MRD assay
- Tags: test; mrd
- Modality: Tumour-informed ctDNA minimal residual disease test (up to 20 variants plus a fixed panel)
- Mechanism: Comprehensive genomic profiling of the tumour selects up to 20 top-ranked variants for a personalised panel, which is combined with a tumour-naive fixed panel for the cancer type and sequenced deeply in plasma.

## Notes

- Stated limit of detection, in the abstract's words: "Its limit of detection at the sample level reaches as low as 0.005%" (Liu et al., MedComm 2025), which is 50 parts per million.
- The authors note that personalised panels cannot follow mutations that appear later in resistant subclones.
