## TL;DR

IASO Bio developed eque-cel, the fully human BCMA CAR-T for myeloma approved in China in 2023 and partnered with Innovent.

## Summary

IASO Biotherapeutics, based in Nanjing and Shanghai and founded in 2017, developed equecabtagene autoleucel, or eque-cel, the fully human BCMA CAR-T for multiple myeloma approved in China in 2023 and partnered with Innovent. The work was spun out of Tongji Hospital in Wuhan, eque-cel, sold as Fucaso, was approved in June 2023 on the FUMANBA-1 trial and holds FDA RMAT designation, and the pipeline includes CD19 and BCMA CAR-Ts for autoimmune disease and a CD19 and BCMA dual CAR-T. OnCo links it to CAR-T cell therapy, to the eque-cel record, to Innovent Biologics and to Tongji Hospital. Whether a Chinese-developed CAR-T can win approval in the United States on its own data is the open question. Equecabtagene autoleucel has its own page.
