## TL;DR

A CT dye given into a vein. In the United States it is also licensed for contrast-enhanced mammography, a breast X-ray taken after the dye to show cancers that ordinary mammograms can miss.

## Summary

Bayer's Ultravist (NDA 020220, first approved 10 May 1995) is indicated for intra-arterial procedures, excretory urography, contrast CT of the head and body, and "Contrast mammography in adults as an adjunct following mammography and/or ultrasound". Its boxed warning reads "NOT FOR INTRATHECAL USE". ATC V08AB05.
