Thymoma tends to spread along the pleura, which makes accurate measurement hard and compromises trial response rates and progression-free survival. The International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group's practical guide (Benveniste and colleagues, Journal of Thoracic Oncology 2014) explains how to measure thymic epithelial tumours with modified RECIST to improve consistency between institutions and readers.
