He is a transplant pioneer known for developing plerixafor for stem cell mobilisation, JAK inhibition for graft-versus-host disease and fratricide-resistant CD7-directed CAR-T for T-cell leukaemia. His selected paper reports plerixafor plus G-CSF versus placebo plus G-CSF to mobilise haematopoietic stem cells for autologous transplantation in multiple myeloma. A former chief of oncology at WashU, he continues to work on allogeneic and autologous transplantation and CAR-T.
