## Summary

John Heymach is Chair of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. A medical oncologist and cancer biologist specialising in lung cancer, targeted therapy and immunotherapy, he was principal investigator of AEGEAN, the perioperative durvalumab trial, and leads EGFR and KRAS-directed programmes including work on osimertinib in stage III disease in the LAURA trial and on targeting drug-tolerant persister cells. His papers report perioperative durvalumab for resectable non-small-cell lung cancer in the New England Journal of Medicine and the ZODIAC phase 3 trial of vandetanib plus docetaxel as second-line treatment in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer. His work also covers small-cell lung cancer and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
