## TL;DR

Barcelona liver specialist who co-created the BCLC staging system used worldwide to decide how liver cancer is treated, and led STORM, which showed adjuvant sorafenib does not help after curative treatment.

## Summary

Jordi Bruix led the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) group at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, whose staging and treatment algorithm is the reference framework for hepatocellular carcinoma. He was first author of the 2015 Lancet Oncology report of STORM, which found that sorafenib after resection or ablation did not improve recurrence-free survival, and a senior investigator on the SHARP trial that established sorafenib for advanced disease.
