Kliniken Essen-Mitte is a Protestant hospital group in Essen. Its Department of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology, led by Andreas du Bois and Philipp Harter, is the coordinating centre of the AGO Study Group and ran the DESKTOP III surgery trial and the PAOLA-1 and PRIMA-era maintenance studies in ovarian cancer. The medical oncology department, where Hansjochen Wilke practised, led RAINBOW, the 2014 trial that established ramucirumab plus paclitaxel as second-line treatment in advanced gastric cancer.
