## TL;DR

Defined EGFR resistance mechanisms in lung cancer and now leads early-detection research including the Sybil AI lung-risk model.

## Summary

Lecia V. Sequist is Director of the Center for Innovation in Early Cancer Detection and Landry Family Professor of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. She is a thoracic oncologist known for defining EGFR resistance mechanisms in lung cancer, leading the 2011 analysis of resistance to EGFR inhibitors and early osimertinib development. Her selected papers report the genotypic and histological evolution of lung cancers acquiring resistance to EGFR inhibitors, and Sybil, a validated deep learning model that predicts future lung cancer risk from a single low-dose chest CT scan. She now directs MGH's early cancer detection centre and works on low-dose CT screening and AI risk models.
