## TL;DR

Mast, earlier called ADVENTRX, was a San Diego biotech whose fluorouracil modulator CoFactor reached phase 3 in colorectal cancer and failed; it later pursued sickle cell disease and merged into Savara in 2017.

## Summary

Mast Therapeutics, formerly ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals, developed ANX-510 (CoFactor), a folate analogue intended to enhance fluorouracil, through a phase 3 trial in metastatic colorectal cancer that did not show benefit, and later vepoloxamer for sickle cell crisis and heart failure, which also failed in phase 3. The company merged with Savara in 2017. Its trials remain on ClinicalTrials.gov under Mast and ADVENTRX as lead sponsor.
