## TL;DR

The Dutch stem cell donor registry. People aged 18 to 35 in the Netherlands can sign up online and send three cheek swabs to be tissue-typed.

## Summary

Matchis is the Dutch stem cell donor registry. People aged 18 to 35 register online and send three cheek swabs; their tissue type is then entered in the donor database. Under its former name, the Europdonor Foundation, it managed Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide, the shared international collection of donor tissue types that began in 1988 and merged into WMDA in 2017 (WMDA's account). On 30 September 2026 Matchis welcomed advice from the Dutch Health Council to allow non-anonymous contact between stem cell donors and recipients, on condition of a two-year wait and both parties' consent, and it reported 2,400 new donor sign-ups during a national awareness week from 21 to 27 September.
