## TL;DR

Nasopharyngeal cancer is staged by how far the tumour reaches beyond the back of the nose and by which neck lymph nodes it has reached, from stage 0 to stage IV.

## Summary

AJCC chapter 9 covers the nasopharynx; the AJCC 2026 table lists a Version 9 protocol for 2025. In the NCI's summary (8th edition groupings), stage 0 is abnormal cells in the lining; stage I is cancer in the nasopharynx only; stage II includes spread to lymph nodes on one side of the neck or behind the throat; stage III includes nodes on both sides of the neck; stage IV covers more extensive spread. Check which version a report uses.
