## TL;DR

VolitionRx's blood test that measures DNA packaging released by dying cells; a version is sold for dogs, and the human multi-cancer test is at preprint stage.

## Summary

VolitionRx's multi-cancer evidence in people is a preprint (Pamart et al., medRxiv 2025, not peer-reviewed): 112 of 229 patients with one of 21 cancer types were positive (49%), including 11 of 32 stage I solid cancers (34%), with no false positives among 150 asymptomatic controls, but the cut-off was set at the highest control value, so specificity was 100% by construction. The company's commercial multi-cancer product is the veterinary Nu.Q Vet test. No CE marking of a human cancer screening test was found.

## Fields

- Kind: Treatment
- Status: emerging
- Last checked: 2026-10-29
- Tags: test; mced; evidence:insufficient
- Brand: Nu.Q
- Modality: Multi-cancer blood test in development (circulating nucleosome immunoassay)
- Mechanism: Immunoassays measure nucleosomes, the protein spools DNA is wound around, and their epigenetic marks in plasma; tumours release more of them as cells die.

## Notes

- Evidence grade insufficient for the claim that taking this test reduces late-stage diagnosis or cancer deaths: no randomised trial of it has reported either outcome, and its published performance comes from case-control or single-arm studies. The only randomised result for any multi-cancer test, NHS-Galleri, did not show fewer stage III or IV cancers.
- The human data are an unreviewed preprint with a cut-off fitted to the controls.
- What a result means: a positive result is a reason for further tests, not a diagnosis; a negative result does not rule cancer out and does not replace the screening tests that have been shown to work (bowel, breast, cervical and, where eligible, lung screening).
