## TL;DR

PACIFIC-2 asked whether starting durvalumab during chemoradiotherapy, rather than after it, would help people with stage III lung cancer; it did not, so the sequence established by the original PACIFIC trial stands.

## Summary

PACIFIC established durvalumab given after chemoradiotherapy as the standard for unresectable stage III non-small-cell lung cancer. PACIFIC-2 tested the more aggressive schedule of starting durvalumab at the same time as platinum-based chemoradiotherapy and continuing it afterwards, against placebo, in 328 patients. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival.

The trial did not show a statistically significant improvement in progression-free survival, and more patients in the durvalumab arm stopped treatment early for adverse events. Consolidation after chemoradiotherapy therefore remains the way durvalumab is used in this setting.
