# Evaluation of an innovative multi-cancer early detection test: high sensitivity and specificity in differentiating cancer, inflammatory conditions, and healthy individuals

## Summary

Walter and colleagues evaluated the Carcimun test, which measures conformational changes in plasma proteins by optical extinction, in a prospective single-blinded study of 172 participants: 80 healthy volunteers, 64 people with cancers of various types and 28 with inflammatory conditions or benign tumours. Mean extinction values were higher in cancer (315.1) than in healthy people (23.9) or those with inflammation (62.7); the test distinguished the groups with accuracy 95.4%, sensitivity 90.6% and specificity 98.2%.
