## TL;DR

Adding the anti-angiogenic antibody bevacizumab to chemotherapy lengthened survival by almost four months in recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer, the first targeted drug to improve survival in a gynaecological cancer.

## Summary

Phase 3 factorial trial of 452 patients with recurrent, persistent or metastatic cervical cancer randomised to cisplatin-paclitaxel or topotecan-paclitaxel, with or without bevacizumab.

Median overall survival was 17.0 versus 13.3 months with bevacizumab (hazard ratio 0.71) and response 48 versus 36 percent; topotecan-paclitaxel was not superior to cisplatin-paclitaxel. Fistula occurred in about 6 percent of bevacizumab patients, mostly after prior radiotherapy.
