## TL;DR

A head-to-head comparison of three blood compartments for a prostate cancer resistance RNA, in which circulating tumour cells beat cell-free and vesicle RNA.

## Summary

AR and AR-V7 RNA were detectable in circulating tumour cells, circulating tumour RNA and exosomes, and AR-V7 detection from circulating tumour cells showed higher sensitivity than detection from cell-free RNA and exosomes.

## Fields

- Kind: Key paper
- Last checked: 2026-11-04
- Journal: Cells
- Year: 2019
- DOI: 10.3390/cells8070688
- Authors: Nimir M, Ma Y, Jeffreys SA, et al.
- Findings: AR-V7 more sensitive from tumour cells than from cell-free RNA or exosomes.
- What it means: Reading a phenotype from cell-free RNA can be less sensitive than from whole tumour cells in blood.
- Caveats: Small cohort.
