## TL;DR

The Paris System is how a urine cytology report is worded, and it is built to answer one question: are there cells of high-grade bladder cancer?

## Summary

The second edition of the Paris System (Wojcik and colleagues, Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology 2022; 65 authors from 33 countries) keeps the focus of urine cytology on detecting high-grade urothelial carcinoma. Low-grade lesions are placed in the category negative for high-grade urothelial carcinoma. Each diagnostic category carries a risk of high-grade malignancy that guides management, and the edition adds a chapter on urine from the upper urinary tract.
