## Summary

Paul Chapman is a melanoma medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He was first author of the 2011 New England Journal of Medicine report of BRIM-3, the phase 3 trial in which the BRAF inhibitor vemurafenib improved overall and progression-free survival compared with dacarbazine in previously untreated BRAF V600E-mutant metastatic melanoma, the first targeted drug to do so in the disease.
