## TL;DR

Dutch radiation oncologist who was lead author of PORTEC-2, the trial that showed vaginal brachytherapy is as good as pelvic radiotherapy for high-intermediate-risk endometrial cancer, with fewer side effects.

## Summary

Remi Nout is a radiation oncologist who trained in the Leiden PORTEC group and now leads radiation oncology at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. He was first author of the 2010 Lancet report of PORTEC-2, in which vaginal brachytherapy gave vaginal recurrence control equivalent to external-beam pelvic radiotherapy in high-intermediate-risk endometrial cancer with less bowel toxicity and better quality of life, making brachytherapy the standard adjuvant treatment for this group. He also leads international trials in cervical cancer radiotherapy.
