## TL;DR

Rivogenlecleucel is an allogeneic polyclonal T cell therapy with an inducible caspase-9 safety switch from Bellicum Pharmaceuticals that reached phase 3 for acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and myelodysplastic syndromes and other cancers; development has stopped.

## Summary

Rivogenlecleucel (BPX-501, rivo-cel, BPX-501 T cells) is an allogeneic polyclonal T cell therapy with an inducible caspase-9 safety switch from Bellicum Pharmaceuticals, with University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as acquirer. Donor T cells containing Bellicum's CaspaCIDe (inducible caspase-9) safety switch, given after a haploidentical stem cell transplant; rimiducid is given to switch the cells off if graft-versus-host disease occurs. Its furthest stage is phase 3, for acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndromes and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. ClinicalTrials.gov registers it in 10 studies linked below. Bellicum discontinued active efforts to find a partner for rivo-cel in late 2021 and limited activity to long-term follow-up (2022 10-K); in March 2023 it stopped development of all product candidates, and its board approved a Plan of Dissolution on 9 November 2023 (8-K, 23 Feb 2024). Whether it works in people has not been established unless a trial below reports it.
