## TL;DR

Strata Oncology's tumour gene test built for very small biopsies, which also gives a score predicting benefit from PD-1 and PD-L1 immunotherapy.

## Summary

Strata Oncology's tissue test was described in 2021 as StrataNGS, a 429-gene laboratory-developed test performed on DNA and RNA from tumour specimens with at least 2 mm² of tumour, validated on 1,986 clinical samples to MolDX guidelines. By 2023 Strata presented it as Strata Select: DNA and quantitative RNA sequencing across 437 genes from a single small sample, with tumour mutational burden, microsatellite instability, an Immunotherapy Response Score, RNA-based results for antibody-drug conjugate targets and homologous recombination deficiency for ovarian cancer, and the old StrataNGS address now redirects to the Strata Select one. The Immunotherapy Response Score combines tumour mutational burden with expression of CD274 (PD-L1), PDCD1 (PD-1), ADAM12 and TOP2A, and was developed and validated in patients treated with PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitors. Strata's 2023 page stated that Strata Select is covered by Medicare Part B and Medicare Advantage.

## Fields

- Kind: Test
- Status: established
- Last checked: 2026-11-03
- Also known as: StrataNGS; Strata Oncology StrataNGS
- Tags: test
- Brand: Strata Select
- Modality: Tissue comprehensive genomic profiling test (multiplex PCR DNA and RNA sequencing)
- Mechanism: Multiplex PCR and semiconductor sequencing of DNA and RNA co-isolated from formalin-fixed tumour tissue, designed to work on samples with as little as 2 mm² of tumour.

## Notes

- What a result means: gene changes are matched to drugs and trials, and a high Immunotherapy Response Score predicted longer benefit from PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitor monotherapy in Strata's published cohorts.
- Not confirmed: whether Strata Select is still orderable. Strata Oncology's website in November 2026 describes its antibody-drug conjugate and immunotherapy response scores and no longer names Strata Select or StrataNGS. No source was found for a separate test called StrataEXP.
