## TL;DR

Stylus Medicine is building a way to add a CAR gene to T cells while they are still in the body, using a fat-based particle that carries an enzyme able to insert a large piece of DNA. Its first goal is CAR-T therapy without a manufacturing step; it was preclinical when it launched in 2025.

## Summary

Stylus Medicine emerged from stealth on 13 May 2025 with USD 85 million: a USD 40 million Series A led by RA Capital and Khosla Ventures and a USD 45 million extension joined by Chugai Venture Fund, Eli Lilly and Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JJDC). Stanford's SPARK programme reports that it was founded in 2022 by Ami Bhatt, Michael Bassik and Lacramioara Bintu of Stanford with Patrick Hsu of Arc Institute and UC Berkeley, after their work identifying natural large serine recombinases able to target the human genome. Its address is 200 Technology Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The platform pairs engineered recombinases with cell-targeted lipid nanoparticles to integrate multi-kilobase payloads into specific cells in the body. The initial focus is in vivo CAR-T: a CD3-targeted LNP delivers a recombinase and a DNA construct encoding a CAR. Single-dose preclinical data were presented at ASGCT in May 2025. The company lists oncology, autoimmune and genetic diseases as areas of interest without naming specific indications.
