## TL;DR

Surgimab is a French company whose fluorescent antibody SGM-101 lights up carcinoembryonic antigen so surgeons can see colorectal and pancreatic tumours in the operating theatre.

## Summary

Surgimab develops SGM-101, a chimeric antibody against carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) conjugated to a near-infrared fluorophore for fluorescence-guided surgery. Injected a few days before the operation, it marks CEA-expressing tumour deposits so surgeons can find peritoneal metastases, small liver lesions and positive margins. Phase 2 studies in colorectal and pancreatic cancer showed changed surgical plans in a substantial share of patients, and a phase 3 trial in colorectal cancer has completed.
