## TL;DR

A global health charity, founded in 1997, that delivers donated cancer medicines, diagnostics and services to patients in low- and middle-income countries, beginning with leukaemia.

## Summary

The Max Foundation began in 1997 as a volunteer group helping Latin American families of children with leukaemia, and is named after Maximiliano Rivarola, who died of chronic myeloid leukaemia in 1991 aged 17, according to its about page. With Novartis it developed and administered the Glivec International Patient Assistance Program, a direct-to-patient donation programme of imatinib for patients in more than 70 low- and middle-income countries. It later formed the Humanitarian Partnership for Access to Critical Treatment with five pharmaceutical companies and launched Max Access Solutions, a portfolio of cancer medicines, diagnostics and patient services. It states that it has reached more than 100,000 people in over 80 countries and has delivered more than 20 million daily doses through Max Access Solutions. Its office is in Seattle.
