## TL;DR

A London charity, founded in 1990, that funds research on how diet, physical activity and body weight affect cancer risk and turns it into prevention advice.

## Summary

World Cancer Research Fund was founded in London in 1990, eight years after its sister charity the American Institute for Cancer Research; World Cancer Research Fund International was set up in 1999 to lead the network's scientific programme. With AICR it published the first Expert Report on food, nutrition and cancer prevention in 1997, and its Global Cancer Update Programme keeps that evidence under review. Its register entry states two aims: raising awareness that healthy food, physical activity and weight management reduce cancer risk, and funding research on those links so its recommendations rest on current science. It also runs grant programmes, recipe and cookbook resources and a dietitian question service. The Charity Commission register records latest income of about £11.9 million for the year ending 30 September 2025.
