## TL;DR

A urine test that reads five RNA markers to check for bladder cancer coming back, and in a Danish trial halved the number of camera examinations of the bladder.

## Summary

Cepheid describes "a non-invasive biomarker test for monitoring NMIBC patients for recurrence in conjunction with other clinical measures" built on "the five strongest bladder cancer indicator mRNAs", with a CE-IVD package insert. In the randomised DaBlaCa-15 trial in high-grade non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, 1,029 cystoscopies were performed in the control arm and 445 in the arm guided by the test, the risk difference for high-grade recurrence was 0.08 per cent (95% CI minus 7.2 to 7.4), and two pTa high-grade recurrences were missed (Dreyer 2025). A longitudinal validation reported 87 per cent sensitivity for high-grade cancer and a negative predictive value of 99 per cent (Cowan 2021).
