Kan Yonemori is Chief of the Department of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo. A breast and gynaecologic oncologist, he was deeply involved in the early studies of trastuzumab deruxtecan and in Japanese antibody-drug conjugate development, serving as an investigator on the DESTINY-Breast trials. His publications include the phase 1 dose-escalation study of trastuzumab deruxtecan in advanced breast and gastric tumours, a phase 1/2 trial of the HER3-directed conjugate patritumab deruxtecan in metastatic breast cancer, and the long-term analysis of DESTINY-Breast03 comparing trastuzumab deruxtecan with trastuzumab emtansine. He leads medical oncology across breast, gynaecologic and sarcoma indications.
