Stage I is split into IA1 to IA3, IB and IC by histological type, depth of invasion into the muscle and lymphovascular space invasion, with aggressive types (serous, high-grade endometrioid, clear cell, carcinosarcoma and others) moved to IC or IIC; stage II separates cervical stromal invasion, substantial lymphovascular invasion and aggressive types with any muscle invasion; stage III and IV substages separate adnexal from serosal spread, pelvic from para-aortic nodes, and pelvic from extrapelvic peritoneal and distant spread.
