On 13 November 2023 Legend announced an exclusive global licence giving Novartis worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and sell its DLL3 CAR-T therapies, including LB2102, with USD 100 million upfront; Novartis may make them on its T-Charge manufacturing platform, and Legend was to run the US phase 1 trial. The FDA cleared the investigational new drug application in 2022 and granted orphan drug designation in 2023. The phase 1 trial (NCT05680922), sponsored by Legend Biotech USA, started in July 2023 in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer and large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung, and the registry now lists it as active but no longer recruiting. No results are recorded here.","status":"phase-1","asOf":"2026-11-03","links":[{"label":"Legend Biotech and Novartis licence announcement, 13 November 2023 (Outsourced Pharma copy)","url":"https://www.outsourcedpharma.com/doc/legend-biotech-announces-exclusive-global-license-agreement-for-certain-car-t-therapies-targeting-dll-0001"},{"label":"ClinicalTrials.gov: LB2102 phase 1 (NCT05680922)","url":"https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05680922"}],"tags":["pipeline","deal-asset"],"related":[],"cancers":["sclc"],"sections":[],"technologies":["car-t"],"targets":["dll3"],"drugs":[],"companies":["legend-biotech","novartis"],"institutions":[],"pathways":[],"terms":[],"trials":["nct05680922"],"people":[],"bottlenecks":[],"keyPapers":[],"journals":[],"dependsOn":[],"notes":[],"provenance":{"editedBy":"OnCo gap audit (ClinicalTrials.gov v2 + company press releases)","editedOn":"2026-11-03"},"modality":"Autologous CAR-T cell therapy (DLL3)","mechanism":"A patient's own T cells are collected and engineered with a chimeric antigen receptor that recognises DLL3, a protein on small cell lung cancer cells, then infused back to attack the cancer.","approvals":[],"mechanismSteps":[],"toxicity":[],"access":[],"regulatoryEvents":[]},"route":"/drugs/lb2102/","neighbours":{"cancer":[{"id":"sclc","kind":"cancer","name":"Small-cell lung cancer","route":"/cancers/sclc/"}],"technology":[{"id":"car-t","kind":"technology","name":"CAR-T cell therapy","route":"/technologies/car-t/"}],"target":[{"id":"dll3","kind":"target","name":"DLL3","route":"/targets/dll3/"}],"company":[{"id":"legend-biotech","kind":"company","name":"Legend Biotech","route":"/companies/legend-biotech/"},{"id":"novartis","kind":"company","name":"Novartis","route":"/companies/novartis/"}],"trial":[{"id":"nct05680922","kind":"trial","name":"DLL3-Directed Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cells in Subjects With Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer","route":"/trials/nct05680922/"}]}}
