It is instilled into the bladder together with BCG for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer with carcinoma in situ that has become unresponsive to BCG, a setting where the standard alternative is removal of the bladder. In the single-arm QUILT-3.032 trial most patients with carcinoma in situ had a complete response and many responses lasted more than a year. The FDA approved it in April 2024. In England NICE published a terminated evaluation in June 2026, so it is not routinely funded there.","status":"approved","asOf":"2026-09-08","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nogapendekin_alfa_inbakicept","links":[{"label":"QUILT-3.032 (NEJM Evidence 2023)","url":"https://doi.org/10.1056/EVIDoa2200167"},{"label":"Label (DailyMed)","url":"https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/search.cfm?labeltype=all&query=Anktiva"}],"tags":["gap-fill"],"related":[],"cancers":["urothelial"],"sections":[],"technologies":["cytokine-therapy","bcg-and-intravesical-therapy"],"targets":[],"drugs":[],"companies":["immunitybio"],"institutions":[],"pathways":[],"terms":[],"trials":[],"people":[],"bottlenecks":[],"keyPapers":[],"journals":[],"notes":[],"brand":"Anktiva","modality":"Interleukin-15 superagonist (IL-15 mutein fused to an IL-15 receptor alpha Fc chain), given into the bladder with BCG","mechanism":"A long-acting IL-15 receptor agonist that expands and activates natural killer cells and CD8 T cells in the bladder wall, so that BCG can trigger an immune response in tumours that no longer respond to BCG alone.","approvals":[{"region":"US","year":2024,"indication":"With BCG for BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer with carcinoma in situ, with or without papillary tumours"}],"mechanismSteps":[],"toxicity":[],"access":[],"regulatoryEvents":[]},"route":"/drugs/nogapendekin-alfa-inbakicept/","neighbours":{"cancer":[{"id":"urothelial","kind":"cancer","name":"Bladder & urothelial cancer","route":"/cancers/urothelial/"}],"technology":[{"id":"cytokine-therapy","kind":"technology","name":"Cytokines & engineered cytokines","route":"/technologies/cytokine-therapy/"},{"id":"bcg-and-intravesical-therapy","kind":"technology","name":"Intravesical therapy (BCG, chemotherapy, devices, gene and viral therapy)","route":"/technologies/bcg-and-intravesical-therapy/"}],"company":[{"id":"immunitybio","kind":"company","name":"ImmunityBio","route":"/companies/immunitybio/"}]}}
