Both groups then had total mesorectal excision and adjuvant chemotherapy.\n\nFive-year disease-free survival was 80.8 percent with FOLFOX and 78.6 percent with chemoradiation, meeting the non-inferiority margin; only 9 percent of the FOLFOX group needed chemoradiation.
