Donor T cells containing Bellicum's CaspaCIDe (inducible caspase-9) safety switch, given after a haploidentical stem cell transplant; rimiducid is given to switch the cells off if graft-versus-host disease occurs. Its furthest stage is phase 3, for acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndromes and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. ClinicalTrials.gov registers it in 10 studies linked below. Bellicum discontinued active efforts to find a partner for rivo-cel in late 2021 and limited activity to long-term follow-up (2022 10-K); in March 2023 it stopped development of all product candidates, and its board approved a Plan of Dissolution on 9 November 2023 (8-K, 23 Feb 2024). Whether it works in people has not been established unless a trial below reports it.","status":"phase-3","asOf":"2026-11-03","links":[{"label":"Bellicum Pharmaceuticals: sec.gov","url":"https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1358403/000135840319000038/a2018q410k.htm"},{"label":"Bellicum Pharmaceuticals: sec.gov","url":"https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1358403/000135840319000038/a2018q410k.htm"},{"label":"Bellicum Pharmaceuticals: sec.gov","url":"https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1358403/000162828023010145/blcm-20221231.htm"},{"label":"Bellicum Pharmaceuticals: clinicaltrials.gov","url":"https://clinicaltrials.gov/api/v2/studies/NCT03699475"},{"label":"ClinicalTrials.gov: trials of BPX-501","url":"https://clinicaltrials.gov/search?intr=BPX-501"}],"tags":["pipeline","ctgov-ingest","discontinued"],"related":[],"cancers":["aml","all-leukemia","mds","non-hodgkin-lymphoma","metastatic-cancer"],"sections":[],"technologies":[],"targets":[],"drugs":[],"companies":["bellicum"],"institutions":[],"pathways":[],"terms":[],"trials":["nct03699475","nct01744223","nct02065869","nct03301168","nct02477878","nct03459170","nct03733249","nct02786485","nct02487459","nct03807063"],"people":[],"bottlenecks":[],"keyPapers":[],"journals":[],"dependsOn":[],"notes":[],"provenance":{"editedBy":"OnCo gap audit, class 5 (company pipeline pages and ClinicalTrials.gov v2)","editedOn":"2026-11-03"},"code":"BPX-501","modality":"Allogeneic polyclonal T cell therapy with an inducible caspase-9 safety switch","mechanism":"Donor T cells containing Bellicum's CaspaCIDe (inducible caspase-9) safety switch, given after a haploidentical stem cell transplant; rimiducid is given to switch the cells off if graft-versus-host disease occurs.","approvals":[],"mechanismSteps":[],"toxicity":[],"access":[],"regulatoryEvents":[]},"route":"/drugs/rivogenlecleucel/","neighbours":{"cancer":[{"id":"all-leukemia","kind":"cancer","name":"Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia","route":"/cancers/all-leukemia/"},{"id":"aml","kind":"cancer","name":"Acute myeloid leukaemia","route":"/cancers/aml/"},{"id":"metastatic-cancer","kind":"cancer","name":"Metastatic cancer (cancer that has spread)","route":"/cancers/metastatic-cancer/"},{"id":"mds","kind":"cancer","name":"Myelodysplastic syndromes / neoplasms (MDS)","route":"/cancers/mds/"},{"id":"non-hodgkin-lymphoma","kind":"cancer","name":"Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (all types)","route":"/cancers/non-hodgkin-lymphoma/"}],"company":[{"id":"bellicum","kind":"company","name":"Bellicum Pharmaceuticals","route":"/companies/bellicum/"}],"trial":[{"id":"nct03733249","kind":"trial","name":"Long Term Follow-up Study for Patients Enrolled on the BP-004 Clinical Study","route":"/trials/nct03733249/"},{"id":"nct03807063","kind":"trial","name":"Rivogenlecleucel Donor Lymphocyte Immunotherapy in Treating Patients With Recurrent Blood Cancers After Stem Cell Transplant","route":"/trials/nct03807063/"},{"id":"nct01744223","kind":"trial","name":"Safety Study of Gene Modified Donor T-cells Following Partially Mismatched Stem Cell Transplant","route":"/trials/nct01744223/"},{"id":"nct02065869","kind":"trial","name":"Safety Study of Gene Modified Donor T-cells Following TCRαβ+ Depleted Stem Cell Transplant","route":"/trials/nct02065869/"},{"id":"nct02487459","kind":"trial","name":"Safety Study of Gene Modified Donor T-Cells in Adults With Advanced Hematologic Malignancies","route":"/trials/nct02487459/"},{"id":"nct03459170","kind":"trial","name":"Safety/PK Study of Gene Modified Donor T Cell Infusion in Children With Recurrent Hem Malignancies After Allo Transplant","route":"/trials/nct03459170/"},{"id":"nct02477878","kind":"trial","name":"Study of Gene Modified Donor T Cell Infusion in Patients With Recurrent Disease After Allogeneic Transplant","route":"/trials/nct02477878/"},{"id":"nct03301168","kind":"trial","name":"Study of Gene Modified Donor T-cells Following TCR Alpha Beta Positive Depleted Stem Cell Transplant","route":"/trials/nct03301168/"},{"id":"nct03699475","kind":"trial","name":"Study of Haplo-HSCT + Rivogenlecleucel vs Haplo-HSCT + Post Transplant Cyclophosphamide in Patients With AML or MDS","route":"/trials/nct03699475/"},{"id":"nct02786485","kind":"trial","name":"Study of Matched Unrelated Donor T Cell Infusion for Hematologic Malignancies After Allo-HSCT","route":"/trials/nct02786485/"}]}}
