Alethia Biotherapeutics develops sotevtamab (AB-16B5), a humanised antibody against secreted clusterin, a chaperone protein that promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. Blocking it is intended to keep tumour cells in an epithelial state that responds better to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Sotevtamab is in a phase 2 trial with docetaxel in non-small cell lung cancer after platinum and checkpoint therapy, and has been studied in other solid tumours.
