AMPLY Discovery is a Belfast company that uses its own AI platform to find new switches in the genome that cancers depend on, and then designs RNA medicines to turn them off. Its first targets are in triple-negative breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
AMPLY Discovery is a UK biotech spun out of Queen's University Belfast, with laboratory hubs at Queen's and at City St George's, University of London. Its TALON platform combines sequencing, synthetic biology and algorithms to search the regulatory genome for targets and to design first-in-class RNA medicines; the company names triple-negative breast cancer and high-grade serous ovarian cancer as its oncology focus, and its seed announcement also described work on acute myeloid leukaemia and on inhaled peptides for drug-resistant lung infections. The founder and chief executive is Ben Thomas, with Dermot Tierney as chief operating officer. In May 2025 it raised USD 1.75 million in seed funding led by Twin Path Ventures, with Venture Science, Co-Fund NI, the British Business Bank and QUBIS.
